I have an Dell Inspiron 6000 (About 3 years old), and I just acquired an Infocus Projector. I have it connected via monitor cable (has option to use S Video, and also composite. Dell only has monitor and S Video capability). I can't get anything to appear on the projector, and have tried changing the primary monitor in control panel. This has been an issue whenever I try to do a presentation at another location. I'm missing something in the settings, i think. Please help

If everything is connected up correctly and the Infocus is setup correctly then the issue may be to press the "Fn" and "F8" keys to turn on the video to the external monitor port. Sounds like you have everything going correctly and just a simple action is needed. I Hope this Helps!!!
