we got an old ed-x8250 hitachi projector, and i was just wondering .. if i tried to play blue ray movies through it, would they be showing in hi-def? or do i need a newer projector / TV or whatever? thank you http://www.projectorpoint.co.uk/projectors/Hitachi_ED-X8250.html

Your projector has a native resolution of 1024x768, which is HD (720p) So, yes, your movies will be in HD. You need to use component video.
